EDITED BY

Some covetable Topshop pieces from their last press day, which means it must be in stores now (wahoo!) How often online do you see something which is available to buy right away? I definitely need to take a trip into Oxford Street soon, also because for the next few weeks the Regent St side entrance of the store has been turned into Edited By; a mini Tophop with all the best pieces hand picked from the main store by a different editor each month. The first is Dazed & Confused’s Katie Shillingford and will give a true insight into one of London style visionaries. Not only will the clothes be hand picked by Katie but also the music in the the space itself as well as a selection of books and magazines that are inspirational to her. I tend to get a little nauseous when shopping in the huge flagship store, so this mini store filled will all the best items hand picked by Katie Shillingford? It sounds almost too good to be true.
Edited By will be open from August 2nd and will feature a new guest editor each month for a two week period.

CRAIG LAWRENCE PRESENTATION SS 2011

Craig Lawrence Presentation SS 2011 London
As I said before with Louise Gray some designers are more suited to a presentation than a catwalk and Craig Lawrence’s presentation was jaw droppingly beautiful.
The models slowly sauntered around the room whilst the video styled by Katie Shillingford played on screen, looking as if they were other worldly beings.
Craig’s beautiful creations, inspired by a Sirens call, look like they are more suited to an underwater environment, his fine knits shrinking and expanding as the models moved around the room.
Craig Lawrence has won the British Fashion Council NEWGEN awards four seasons running and has previously worked for designer Gareth Pugh.
My favourite outfit is the final one pictured, the pieces look delicate but Craig has used fine wire in the knitting process, making the dresses heavy and giving them an alien drape.

GRADUATE FASHION WEEK

I am so excited to reveal that my work has been chosen to show at Graduate Fashion Week this year!
16 students were selected out of a total of 63 to showcase their catwalk creations at GFW. I sincerely think that this year UWE will be up to the standards of rivals Ravensbourne, Northumbria and Manchester. (Not really our rivals but I think they are good!)
UWE will be showing at 7pm, Sunday 6th June at Earls Court.
I have received my Girlalamode press pass and will be attending as many shows as I can fit in. That’s right, I will be on both sides of the fence. It’s going to be a crazy few days, I’m not even sure what Sunday has in store and how busy I will be. All I know is I am sat listening to the show mix for Sunday and it is SO GOOD! I am mega excited.
Email me if you are not sure how to get hold of tickets, press etc, or if you want to meet up at the event!

Carly Ellis, University of Westminster; Rebecca Thomson, Manchester Metropolitan University; Kitty Keay, Colchester School of Art; Phoebe Thirlwall, Nottingham Trent University; Garry Butterfield, University of Northampton

Sera Ulger, Ravensbourne College; Gina Webster, Birmingham City University; Anna Lee, De Montfort University; Beth Spurr & Lucy Hammond, Kingston University; Lisa Marie Jones, University of Wales

These Graduate Fashion Week campaign images were shot by Rankin using looks chosen by Dazed and Confused fashion editor Katie Shillingford.
Rankin said about the shoot: ‘I really enjoyed this shoot. There was a stunning array of truly innovative and often outrageous design, and stylist Katie Shillingford did a great job of choosing the top 10 looks. It was incredibly easy to shoot the clothes – each piece was so beautiful and full of character. I’m sure among the 2010 graduates we will see a designer that will catch the fashion world’s imagination!’

See you all at GFW!

Gareth Pugh

It’s so beautiful when you get to see a designer flourish throughout his career. Thinking about when Pugh came onto the scene in 2005; a scruffy adolescent with some very in-your-face designs, to A/W 2010.
This collection is slick, stylish and sleek. The beautiful drape of the trousers against the harsh structured leather (how incredible are all the leather pieces!?), the grey swooshing coat with frayed edge and the meswear – Man skirts have never looked so beautiful. I’m not even sure if anyone has attempted a longer pleatier man skirt…
It makes him look as if he is effortlessly gliding along, like a ghost.
The colour palette of black and grey is spot on as always, and the styling by Katie Shillingford is really quite lovely.
What a way to start Paris Fashion Week!
