REVISITING THE ABANDONED HOSPITAL

You may remember my trip to the abandoned hospital 6 months ago, probably my favourite blog post to date. I was lucky enough to sneak in again – model, photographer and collection in tow, to shoot my S/S12 lookbook. It feels strange unearthing this, like a magician revealing their trick. I find behind the scenes so exciting but when it’s behind my scenes it feels odd indeed. The pictures above were taken on my phone when we did the reccy around the hospital and then leading up to the shoot. Rain was running down the walls inside the room when we started shooting, as you can see throughout the lookbook, the wall gets dryer and dryer (love those details). I think it was the perfect setting for the lookbook, not just because it’s one of my favourite places in London but also because some of the clothes have a medical feel about them, for example the white shirt with buckle and tie sides. It was a lot of fun shooting, I hope you all like the pictures!

COLOUR BLOCKING

Wearing: Limi Feu jacket, Charlie May dress, Jil Sander trousers, Atalanta Weller shoes, Versace sunnies

Sorry to everyone who was hoping for a colourful look, the title was just for fun! Outfit worn on day 4 (I think) of London Fashion Week. I realised there were actually six days at LFW not five… confused. Anyway thank you to Refinery29 for the full body shot and to Jennine for the close up.

MARIA GRACHVOGEL SS12

Held in the ballroom of the Savoy hotel, Maria Grachvogel presented her Spring/Summer 2012 show yesterday. The fabrics were so luxurious, every garment was meant to move. The catwalk was a large square so there was a constant pounding of models and fabric following behind them. I loved all the white looks and the snakeskin trouser suit was pretty amazing. The shoes were a collaboration with Atalanta Weller, so chic! It’s all about those snakeskin booties.

Out of this world

At London Fashion Week I discovered the works of Atalanta Weller.
These insane sculptural pieces are the work of an english eccentric.
The 28 year old is originally from Gloucestershire. After studying a foundation course in Cheltenham, she did her BA in footwear at Cordwainers College.

“Shoes are like small sculptural buildings in their own right. I just love the challenge, the technical restrains of footwear. And I enjoy the materials – conventional leather or unconventional wood, plastic and polystyrene!”

Atalanta has been working with Henry Holland since his first runway collection and Gareth Pugh
for one show, shrink wrapping the shoes before they went out onto the catwalk.

Resemblance?

She also has some much more wearable pieces that were also on show at lfw. Got to get my hands on those wedges!

I also stumbled across the work of Gabriella Marina Gonzalez. She designs garments as well as making out of this world accessories. I couldn’t find a website for her but she does have a blog.

Love her illustrations!
You can buy Gabriella’s work at Digitaria, London.
