FOUR EYES

Recently I’ve been searching for an update on my specs, obviously they didn’t have these in any of the opticians I’ve been searching in but it didn’t stop me fantasising none the less. ‘The Panther Collection’ is from Givenchy’s latest masterpiece (A/W 11) and retails at around £350 a pair.
Me likey.

GIVENCHY HAUTE COUTURE S/S 11

Givenchy Haute Couture S/S 2011

This season Riccardo Tisci transports us to a world of robot toys and Butoh; Japan. Inspired by the romantic and melancholic Japanese performance artist Kazuo Ohno the couture collection is the colour of dried flowers. The hats inspired by robot toys were designed by Philip Treacy

Damir Doma
Alexander McQueen
Ann Demeulemeester

Trends: Pops of colour, mainly in yellow and red; Wide legged trousers; shiny patent fabrics; and structured tailoring, especially in large statement coats.
The menswear this season has been exceptional so far, the trends emerging are really fresh and pushing the boundaries enough to excite, I’ve already heard men asking how they are going to work a pair of wide legged trousers into their wardrobe.

GIVENCHY PRE FALL 2011

When I first saw this collection my jaw dropped. Nicole Phelps was right in saying that pre-fall used to be a collection of basics, but not anymore. It’s as if Riccardo Tisci has created another ready to wear for those of us who just can’t wait until February.
The collection was shot using three of his current favourite runway models – Lea T, Saskia de Brauw, and Izabel Goulart – and shot on an actual street. I was so sure this was a set.
The colour palette is exactly what I want to be wearing this winter, as well as bringing in the camel tones and reinventing them into beiges and dusky pinks.
The layering is genius; thigh high laced boots under a chiffon maxi skirt (something I feel I will definitely have to do myself), bomber jackets and parkas layered over expensive looking ball gowns, and exposing thighs through selective layering.
This could be my favourite Givenchy collection to date.
